What is "netID"?
The netID consist of a username and password, that was given to you when you started studying or working at USI, SUPSI or FTL.
Every netID has a corresponding profile that stores some information about the user that convened services use for authorization purpose. Once logged in you will be able to view the information in your profile and to modify some of them.
The format of the netID is very similar to an e-mail address one, usually it appear as following: name.surname@organization.ch.

What should I do after the first login?
Further to the first log in, it is important to set up a new password and the type and destination of notifications for password change and reset of the password. You can also set an alias that is an additional username which is personalized and easy to memorize, The first type of notification allows you to be informed each time your own password is changed (for your own security) and the second type of notification allows you to receive a temporary password should the main password be forgotten. In order to set up the notifications, you must access the page named as "Personal profile".
I am unable to authenticate myself ("to login"). Why?
There are many possible reasons:
- the netID username may be wrong
- the inserted password may be wrong
- the netID account may have expired or disabled
As all authentification systems, netID cannot be too specific when indicating the reason for not being able to access the login to ensure that no information is supplied to prowlers.
